Majestic Ron
This painting was donated & now hangs in the Bar at the Majestic Theatre, Pomona Qld.
‘Majestic Ron’ is sitting in front of the stage of the beloved Majestic Theatre, surrounded by his nostalgic memories spanning over 50 years of his involvement with the Theatre.
He is seated with his walking stick. His memories on old postcards reflect the journey he has had. I so enjoyed painting Ron’s portrait! Somehow the colours don’t come across quite right on Insta, & the top & bottom of the painting are cut off… I missed the deadline for getting this to my first application for the Archibald – Covid brain, I simply didn’t check the date in May it was due! Maybe next year or another comp. This painting was a joy, but took a very very long time! Ron retired at age 90 just after I asked him if I could do his portraits. The Majestic Theatre is in Pomona Queensland Australia, and still runs silent movies & has many functions as a community hall. This painting was donated to the Majestic Theatre.
